2023 Top 40 Electrical Design Firm Projects in the Spotlight

May 24, 2023
Some of this year's Top 40 firms share their most notable electrical projects from 2022.

This year's Top 40 Electrical Design Firms exceeded expectations on basically all fronts. Reporting a combined electrical design revenue total of $3.918 billion in 2022 (the full year of data that the 2023 survey results are based on), respondents managed to come in 22.2% higher as a collective group than the year before.

After two years of subdued activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, electrical design firms appear to have gotten back to business, resuming projects that were placed on hold and operating on all cylinders to make up for lost time. Although revenue growth was off the charts for most firms, 2023 may present ongoing challenges, such as economic uncertainty, supply chain disruptions/delayed projects, and the skilled labor shortage, making it increasingly more difficult to recruit and retain top talent.

For details on how these firms performed as well as comprehensive analysis on the most important factors affecting their business this year, look for EC&M’2023 Top 40 Electrical Design Firms Special Report, coming soon to our website and the June print issue.

In addition to the annual survey results, we are also featuring a sample of some of the most notable electrical projects Top 40 firms worked on in 2022. Take a look at some of the most innovative project photos sent in by survey respondents, representing the diverse scope of work that helped this year’s group exceed revenue levels from the previous year.
